Landscape With Water Features

You may consider that landscaping with water features is too extravagant

. However if you enjoy working in your yard and you want to spruce it up and be unique in your own neighborhood, you should consider water features. There are many to consider and they dont have to include a built-in swimming pool.

What are some of the basics that you would be wise to consider? Things like a pond or a bubbling brook. Or if that doesnt do it for you, consider a splashing waterfall or fountain, or even a raging river in your back yard, or a simple birdbath. You should first consider size and area along with price. You certainly would want to be sure that you would be able to tackle the job yourself or if not, hire a landscape architect.

Another consideration would be an in-ground or aboveground addition. The aboveground would be cheaper and easier to install, but then youre dealing with the weather. In-ground would cost more and youll be dealing with whatever is underground. That landscape architect will be able to find those things out and even get a permit if needed.

Remember bigger may not be better. You should adjust the size to fit well within the perimeter of your yard and your budget. Back yard or front yard fenced or unfenced? Foot paths, bridges and even lighting? Will it be the focal point of your yard, or simply an accent? Will you need a do-it-yourself kit that should have all the necessary parts, pumps, liners, filters, aerators, piping and even a motor? What if you need concrete, metal, wood, stone or a mixture of materials and the knowledge to install them?

Will you be able to retain all the vegetation in your yard, or will it be necessary to remove a good deal of it? And will you be able to do the entire job, or do you need more knowledge to get the job done. You dont want to start a job like that only to find out after youve started that you cant get it to work. Youll want to finish the job youve started.

Consider the entire project and estimate how much it will cost. If it is all too much to even consider, then go online and find that landscape architect. He will be willing and able to finish the job, or you may have to pay him to give you advice, and youll do the work. Remember though he may not be willing to advise you without payment for his knowledge.
