Lanyards come in many styles from cheap lanyards which are the plain cotton non-imprinted kind which are very cost effective when bought in bulk.

The most common is the badge lanyard which is used by so many companies and institutions and not only for identification and security purposes but for branding with the company's name and logo stamped on them which would be a custom imprinted lanyard or promotional lanyard.
