Nowadays buying a laptop turns out to be pretty difficult because there are so many different models to choose from

. These notebooks seem to be the same but you will find minor differences in the prices and models. When you decide to buy a laptop you should consider the purpose for which you need the laptop. Think whether it is for watching movies, gaming, editing and storing photos, using applications such as Excel & Word or simply for surfing the net.

There are some features you should consider. The first one among them is Upgradeability. There are some parts of the laptop which cannot be upgraded such as the screen, the processing unit, video card and so on. The simple reason behind it is that they come with the machine. On the other hand there are parts which are upgradable such as main memory and the hard drive. In some of the newer models parts such as Firewire ports, USB and USB 2.0 can be upgraded. Upgrading would definitely lead to decreased portability due to increase in weight.

After these you should look out for Portability. Portability plays a very important role in case of a laptop. In case you travel a lot due to your business, you obviously need a system that can be easily carried along. You can find many laptops in the market with different sizes, weights and speed. It's up to you to decide the laptop which would suits your requirements.

More often than not cost of a particular item influences your decision while making purchases and same goes with a laptop too. Normally cost of a laptop is twice that of a personal computer. In case you feel two desktop computers are needed for two separate workstations, then why should you go for a laptop? Just set up a LAN connection between the two if needed.

There other features you need to explore such as wireless LAN, hard drives, battery life and so on. It is better to choose specific stores in the market which have a good variety of laptops to show to you. You are sure to find one that suits your needs perfectly.
