Laptop/Notebook versus Netbook- The Better Buy
In the eternal argument of laptop versus netbooks, the truth is that laptops are too bulky to carry around all the time. It is especially difficult to do so while travelling. In order to make things more compact, laptops slowly paved the way for notebooks, with smaller screens and keyboards as well as compromised processors.
Smaller than the notebook is the netbook which was first introduced into the market by Asus with its Eee PC netbooks in 2007.
Laptop versus netbook
The netbook is a lightweight computer device with small keyboard and a 10.1 inch LCD display weighing an average of 2 pounds. The processor is way simpler than that of a laptop, making it limited in its functions as far as software programs are concerned.
Netbooks are not equipped with optical drives, which means you cannot watch movies or listen to music that is on a disc. Only USB ports are available to connect to an external drive.
Laptop processors are more complex and use 5400 RPM drives in the system which can be slower to function, unlike the netbook drive which is an SSD type, making things faster to process.
The biggest disadvantage of using a netbook is the size of the keyboard and screen, which is always smaller than that of a laptop. Therefore, if you are planning to use your netbook to watch movies or type a lot, you should make sure that you buy a model on which you are comfortable doing both.
Notebook versus netbook
The basic difference between the notebook and netbook is the extent of functional utility served by the two. A notebook is simply a smaller laptop which can run complex software programs and enable the user to work on multiple windows at the same time. However, a netbook is mainly for the purpose of connecting to the internet, surfing the web and sending emails as well as opening documents on the basic programs.
A notebook can have a screen as big as 17 inches whereas the average screen size of a netbook is 10 inches or less. This makes the notebook is better choice for video watching purposes.
A netbook often comes with a wireless internet connectivity device with the purpose of being used complementarily till the contract of the wireless connection is valid. A notebook can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, wireless or modem.
