The online education concept came about when corporations wanted to use computers to train newly hired employees but did not want to have physical trainers spend long periods of time with the newbies. Online education was slow, intermittent and everything was in text.

The history of online education suddenly took a sharp turn in early 2000. Finally, e learning was more structured, more developed and a lot faster than before. People started incorporating videos and music to make the materials more interesting. Pictures were pasted between texts. Online video access made video pod casts possible. Students were now starting to enjoy the fruits of an education without even leaving their bedrooms.

The rest, as they say, is online education history. Virtual instructors from reputable institutions have resorted to online careers. Corporations are now acknowledging online degrees the exact same way they would treat a traditional college graduate. A typical training session is fast, convenient and can be viewed anytime and anywhere. Learning about the history of how online education came about helps us appreciate it more. It has provided endless possibilities for us to get closer to our professional dreams, and that's only the beginning.
