The Tamilnadu Fire and Rescue Service, a Government Organization launched its Facebook Fan Page on March 4th 2011 in the National Seminar on Modern Building Fire Safety Design at the Hotel Accord Metropolitan, Chennai. The fan page was launched by Mr.R.Nataraj, DGP/Director, Tamilnadu Fire and Rescue Services, which was eventually his idea to reach the online population and to moralize them with the fire safety awareness. The idea was supported by Mr. Shankar, CEO, VPayCash, and his team who took the development part of the necessary applications in the fan page as a social responsibility.

The Tamilnadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) was started with the theme that the public must reach them easily for their clarifications and critical actions and respectively the department needs to put in the fire safety awareness among the public which would help them to prevent fire accidents and the losses thereby due to the accidents. Since, Facebook being the boom of social network's in India and with more than 30 lakh users from Tamilnadu, it was finally took as the choice to reach out to the people.

In the event of the launch of TNFRS page, many contests were announced and it's running live in the Facebook fan page. The contest includes Fire Safety Quiz, Fire Safety Awareness Drawing, Share Ideas to prevent Fire accidents, Tell your story on a fire accidents that occurred in your local area. Fire and Rescue Services Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu is entrusted with the task of fire fighting and rescue operations in times of emergency. "We Serve to Save" is the lofty objective of the department and every one of the personnel in the ,department has the onerous task of saving the people in distress.

Our focus should be to reach out to the people in a proactive way, educate them on fire hazards in an effort to prevent fire mishaps. The personnel should hone their skills in rescue operations. They should ensure that the infirm, children, women are protected first in any eventuality. Our action should uphold the Human rights of individuals and that of special groups like Senior Citizens, Physically Challenged, Women and Children.
