Leaders Set The Tone Of A Company

Several years ago our school had a principal that didn't want anything to do with the parents

. She didn't make any effort to unite the teachers, work with the parent's and only knew a small handful of students. She had a closed door policy pretty much and everyone knew that. It was a very difficult time at our school for everyone and several of the parents decided to take their children to a different school.

Then we had a new principal come in. It was his first year as a principal and he came in with energy and excitement to do his job right. He recognized the pressures the teachers were under and on the days they were required to be at the school for long meetings he would do different activities throughout the day. Whether it was a half hour of a ping pong tournament or a fun basketball game he would do something for them.

Then he worked with the PTA president to try to encourage parent involvement. There were programs put into place to encourage the parents to come back to the school. He decided to spotlight the students for their birthdays and made it a goal to know all six hundred students at our school. At first everyone was blown away by his energy, but then people hopped on board. Within months the atmosphere at the school was different and the parents that had taken their children to other schools wanted to bring their students back. They had heard amazing reviews about the new principal and the things that were happening.

The only thing that changed at the school was the leader of the school. The teachers, students and parents didn't change. He just brought out different things in everyone and made people feel comfortable and motivated.

Whether you like to acknowledge or not that the leader makes the difference it is proven over and over. In the business world the companies that have amazing owners usually have amazing employees and give amazing customer service. They expect the best and they give it. Then there are the businesses out there that have an owner that isn't as personable or is "hands off" and they might not have the best reputation.

You can usually tell when you work with a company and the employees, but another way to find out about different companies is to look at the reviews on the leadership of a company. This will tell you a lot about a company and what the end result could be of the type of service you could receive.
