Learn About History Of Varamin Before You Take A Trip To Iran

. The place is famous for its conical-shaped Ala al-din tower, which was built when Mongols became a power to reckon with in this region.

The neighboring town, Ray, was destroyed by Mongols who were responsible for the growth of this small village into a town and finally as the capital of the province. The main reason for the economic prosperity of this town was given to agriculture which was very well developed here.

Rise and Fall

You can find out before you take a trip to Iran that just like the devastation in Ray led to the growth of Varamin as a city, the gain in prominence of nearby Tehran resulted in the fall of this town over the next few years. History of Varamin reveals that with Tehran's rise to glory, its farmer population was affected with more and more people being drawn toward the capital of the country. This affected agriculture in the place as the old farming practices could no longer be followed.

Ancient Structures

The population of the place further dwindled following successive earthquakes which ruined the city. The major centers of the town were destroyed. The well known Masjid-i-Jami built in 1326 was also laid to dust. But you can still see the remaining brickwork and mosaics on the walls and arches when you take a trip to Iran. People usually come to visit the 13th century mausoleum when they visit Varamin.

This structure is built like a tower, quite like its former structures traditionally constructed in Iran since 9th century. The havoc of the earthquake and other natural calamities on this structure is also noticeable.

Carpet-making

History of Varamin also tells you about its beautiful rugs and carpets which have been made by the local tribal people. They are made of soft wool with a cotton base. These good-looking carpets are worth the price you have to pay for them too. The tribal tradition of carpet making in Varamin goes back to the migrated people's tribes' styles of this art. Some have come to this area from Luristan, some from Kurdistan, etc.
