According to length there are two types of thumbs either Small or Large.
The thumb is small' means it is small in relation to rest of the hand. He is mostly driven and dominated by emotions, where intellect has little role to play.
Large thumb in relation to the rest of the hand indicates an unexpected coolness in the face of danger. The cool temperament may help him to perform some heroic deed which ultimately will make him famous in the society.
According to flexibility, the thumbs are again of two types- either Rigid or Movable.
If the thumb bends back only with difficulty, the owner will have to be on guard against an obstinate streak. Even in the face of considerable opposition he will win his point.
The thumb is said to be flexible when it bents back without much trouble or difficuty.
The flexible thumb indicates that he will be able to take in his pace for whatever happens to him. He will accommodate himself to strangers with ease. He is capable to make many best things for his own even in the face of strong opposition.
To learn palmistry, the next thing you must know, is how to interpret a person according to the sizes of the phalange.
In each thumb there are three phalanges, first, second and the third.
The first or nail phalange represents will. The second phalange represents logic and reasoning power, and the third phalange represents love.
Long and strong first phalange indicates self-reliance and self confidence. A flat, thin first phalange shows controls over temper or calmness; a very pointed first phalange reveals enormous impetuosity.
If the second phalange is long and heavy then the person will reason out every step of his life, but if the phalange is longer than the first, he will not have the power or will. If the first and second phalanges are equal in length then the subject is strong in will power and sensible in ideas.
The third phalange is lying outside the Mount of Venus, between the second and third joint. Long and clear shape third phalange says that the subject love leans to the ideal, but the short and clumsy third phalange indicates that to the subject love is a passion.
