Learn To Play Some Very Easy Songs For Beginners On Guitar

Learning easy songs on guitar is essential for a beginner to guitar and there are many classic songs that are very easy to play

. In fact a beginner can build up a repertoire of easy songs even if they only know a few chords, so get going straight away and learn something.

I'm going to show you how to play what I consider a real classic song, Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morisson. The reason I think this is a perfect song for a beginner to learn is because the chords are very simple and also fit together perfectly. It also has a very simple vocal which you do not need to have any special talent to sing. Not only that, if you do struggle at this point to sing and play at the same time then your audience (if you are brave enough to play in front of people) are sure to know the words and will pretty readily join in with the singing. I tell you now, as a beginner nothing will give you a bigger boost than having people singing along with you.

Ok, so the chords for this song are real beginners chords. The whole song only has 4 being, G, C, D7, Em. The main verse uses a simple 3 chord turnaround meaning that in effect it sounds like 4 chords because it uses (G) twice. (G) Hey where did (C) we go, (G) The days when the (D7) rain came, and the same for next couple of lines.

This then leads into a short prelude to the chorus still using the same 3 easy chords but in a slightly different order plus Em, this being C, D7, G, Em..."And you, my brown eyed girl, you my brown eyed girl" then just hangs on D7, "Do you remember when, we used to sing and then the chords in the chorus simply repeat the same as the verse. G, C, G, D7 "sha la la la la..." At this point, your audience will be singing along. Guaranteed!

What I really like about this song is that it proves that you do not have to be a genius at playing guitar to play a great song, but also to write a great song too. The words are very create and tell a simple story about the memories of young love in a small town. This is a much used formula but one that is great to use. The list of songs with this theme are endless. Summer of 69, Boys of Summer, Jack and Diane, Living on a Prayer, all great songs and the list goes on.
