The third level is known to be the most dangerous. This level is called black water and it can be hazardous to anyone that comes in contact with it. Seawater or sewage water would be classified in this category. When gray water is allowed to remain in a house for 48 hours or more, it can turn into black water can become a health violation.
Additionally, there can be health risks in a house that has been restored from damage. Signs of water damage can be found in a house via the sight of discoloration being present in various areas of the home, though the rest of the house may seem fine. If you notice that the discoloration is beginning to spread, this is more of a concern. Discoloration is usually a sign of mold growing, which is a known health risk.
Anyone who is considering making a choice on homeowner's insurance should examine if their policy has any allowances for damage caused by water or not. If the policy covers the situation, it can be a large help when damage eventually occurs, and can save the homeowner a noteworthy amount of money. A common mistake that people make is to choose homeowner's insurance which doesn't have an allotment for this type of damage due to the belief that they will never encounter it. When the problem arises in the future, it leaves the homeowner with few options and the concern of how to pay for the restoration of their home.
There are alternative options that can be considered if the damage is the result of flooding in the region. People that have been affected by flooding and have lost their homes or sustained damage as a result of it can usually get some assistance from the government via special programs.
