Learning The Basics Of Toy Cameras And Lomography

Photography is one hobby that almost anyone can enjoy

. It is a way to express creativity and let others get a glimpse at how you see the world.

There are so many different types of cameras on the market, each with a different purpose, professionalism, and price tag. There are differences between cameras that are for recreational purposes and those that are used for professional photos; however, sometimes the line between the two types is blurred.

Presently, there has been a big push to use all digital photography equipment, and those that are purchasing cameras are pushed to buy the one with the most megapixels and highest image quality that their pocketbook allows. Film photography has become something in the past, as it is easier and more efficient to utilize digital types; it is easy to make changes and alterations through programs, and since most of our communication and networking is done through computers, it makes the process quite simple.

Just because digital work is the newest and possibly most widely used of the methods, there is something very real and beautiful about photos shot through film. There is only one shot, and it is not often able to be altered or changed by a computer program.

Many photographers still shoot in film, but there has been a trend occurring within the past few years to renew the use of toy cameras from the past. There have been many different types throughout the years; they are called "toys" because of the materials that make them up.

Most of them are strictly made with plastic, sometimes even including the lens, and are a larger, box shaped type. The type of print that comes from the use of one of them is extremely unique; each one offers a different shade, sharpness, and style.

The interesting thing about these objects is that they create some really unique and different prints. The way that they are made allows for light leaks and unexpected effects.

Many photographers would think of this as a nuisance in their regular pictures, but those that come from lomograph cameras are meant to have these effects; they actually add something extra and make them more interesting. In fact, there are a number of professional photographers, especially within the last few years, who have tried to give them a comeback by using them in their regular work.

Those that understand how to manipulate light and capture interesting scenes in the frame have, often, won awards with these relatively cheap toy cameras. There are a number of professionals that use them in their regular shoots, even wedding and family photography.

Almost anyone that is interested in photography as a hobby, art, or craft, can make use of Dianas, Holgas, Lubitels, and other "toys" meant for capturing. The majorities of these cost less than fifty or one hundred dollars and are a great gift for artistic friends or family members.

When it comes to trying your hand and photography, there are a couple of guidelines you may want to follow. First off, be sure to take your camera everywhere with you; you never know when you will view something poignant or interesting, and it will be a great time for you to capture the moment on film.

Remember that these toys can be used both during the day and at night, even if you do not have a flash. Some of the most interesting shots have been created when an individual thought that nothing would come of the picture.

When trying your hand at lomography, make sure to get photos from a bunch of different heights and angles; you can shoot with your arms out and away from your face, choose not to even use the view finder, or from your hip. Do not think too much or get too involved when you are photographing.

The hobby is meant to be a fun escape for you to find things that you may not have otherwise noticed. If you are over thinking your shots or analyzing everything around you too much, it may be impossible to capture something spontaneous and unique.

Do not worry about rules, and try not to plan out anything too much; relax and enjoy your time. Lomography is meant to be an escape from the everyday world and an opportunity to show your creativity and voice through film.
