My Chiropractic Assistant, Michelle, has put together our office website, and convinced me it was time to enter the 21st century, albeit one decade late. So with that in mind, I feel it's important when explaining chiropractic, that we start from the beginning (literally). B.J. Palmer, the developer of Chiropractic, said "Get the Big Idea, all else will follow".
The "Big Idea" starts with the premise that you were created to be wonderful, abundant, and healthy for your entire life; which, by the way, should be a lot longer than 78 years (the average life expectancy). More on that later. When you become chronically ill or dysfunctional it is not due to a fault in your design, defective genes, or bad luck; it is because something has INTERFERED with nature. Apply the same principle to our planet. We don't have to do anything to "Save the Planet", we just have to stop interfering!
Have you ever thought about your beginning? From the moment the male sperm penetrates the female egg and fertilizes it - You begin your journey. From a tiny speck of protoplasm not visible to the naked eye, to a fully formed human baby 280 days later - Wow! Let's explore this process a bit further. Immediately after conception, the cell begins to rapidly divide, then multiply. Within a couple of weeks the cells start to specialize and differentiate. The first system to form is the Central Nervous System, starting with the Brain (Above), to the Spinal Cord (Down), then the Nerves to the Other Organs (Inside-Out). This is the underlying principle of Chiropractic. That your life, your health, your existence comes from Above-Down-Inside-Out (A.D.I.O), and that your life expression will be perfect -UNLESS- something interferes with it. Examples of interference while in utero would be nutritional deficiencies, drugs (remember thalidamide and tetracycline) exposure to toxic chemicals, alcohol - all of which can result in deformities, and even death.
As we grow and mature, in the good old U.S.A. we are constantly bombarded by chemicals in the form of drugs (prescription, OTC, vaccinations). This is because most people have been indoctrinated into a completely antithetical principle of health. What we call the Outside-In Approach to health. This approach implies that your body is weak, not so wonderful, and is ready to break down at a moment's notice. The drug companies are making a killing (pun intended) convincing you that every time you get sick it's because there is a deficiency of their products in your blood stream. Turn on the tv and you will find a pill for every ill, a potion for every emotion, and a lotion for every motion. All the while creating more interference to your body's ability to sustain health. In other words, the pharmaceutical medical system, through control of the media (1/3 of all advertising dollars) has created a culture of fear and dependence.
