Lexus Dealers Turning Negatives Into Positives
Lexus dealers have come in for a lot of stick in the last few months
, with the Japanese car giant which is owned by Toyota facing the bad publicity of the floor mat saga which left a member of the United States police force dead.
The good news is that after recently visiting a branch of my local Lexus dealers I noticed that there are indeed a number of positive aspects to help alleviate some of the heat and strain that the company is feeling in the media.
The first thing I noticed when entering the Lexus dealers showroom was the positive and friendly attitude that I was confronted from when entering the building, it was very similar in approach to what I had experienced in BMW garages before.
The showroom was bubbling with the news of the new Lexus supercar that it had just been announced was due to be released in 2010. It seemed to be an exciting time for the dealership with the Lexus dealers imploring me to take a look at the statistics of the new car on their computer.
When I mentioned that it might be something I would look to create an article on in the future I was quickly whisked away to a sales room where I was given a selection of printed documents detailing the company's knowledge of the car. This isn't always the case as some of the companies decide to take a different approach, minimising what data can get out to the media before general release.
After finishing my discussion with one of the sales managers I move back into the showroom where I waited to take delivery of the car that I would be testing for the day. While waiting I was offered a coffee or tea and got to relax in the Lexus dealers waiting area where I was surrounded by a host of magazines that weren't all about Lexus and also a TV which displayed the latest news on one of the national news channels.
The car turned up out the front of the dealership and I was then given a quick run through the special features that featured on this particular model by another sales person before being left to take it for a spin. Initially I was only planning to take the car for 24 hours, but the dealership insisted that I kept the car over the weekend so I could appreciate the positive aspects of the car.
Things really appear to be turning around for Lexus, so we will see if they trend continues in the future.
