. Abundant sunshine and very little rainfall is enjoyed. Daytime temperatures from June to September reach 90 to 100 degrees and higher. Winters are mild with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.
Upon arriving at the McCarran International Airport or the smaller North Airport or Henderson Executive Airport, tourists are transported by bus, taxi, monorail, trolley, or tram.
Most major hotels house their own casino, lounge, and gift shop. These massive hotels are architecturally spectacular with winding staircases, marble floors and statues. Just some of the casinos include Golden Nugget, Excalibur, Harrah's, Sam's Town, Tropicana, Caesar's Palace, Stratosphere, Sahara, Las Vegas Hilton, MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Mirage, and Stardust.
Every street is also filled with shops. The Bonanza Gift Store is the world's largest gift store. The Grand Canal Shoppes feature a canal with gondolas and singing gondoliers. M & M World offers everything M&M including an actual walking M&M character.
Food choices range from family oriented, themed, or fine dining. Themed restaurants include the Harley Davidson Cafe complete with motorcycle memorabilia inside and outside. The Hard Rock Cafe sports a 45 foot guitar at the entrance. The Nascar Cafe is the place to eat Dipstick fried cheese and Winston Cup wings while surrounded by Nascar memorabilia. All themed restaurants include gift shops. Many of the hotels and casinos offer both buffets and fine dining.
Museums include the Liberace Museum with cafe and gift shop and displays the flamboyant artist's costumes, jewelry, cars, and pianos. The Lied Discovery Children's Museum offers exhibits and programs in art, science, nature, music, and humanities.
Nightlife consists of nightclubs, strip clubs, and topless shows. There are afternoon and evening performances of Broadway and production shows, magic shows, hypnosis and psychic shows, tribute shows to groups such as the Rat Pack or Beatles, and headliner shows such as Cher and Donny and Marie Osmond.
Vegas, the marriage capital of the world, performs over 150,000 weddings each year. Wedding chapels feature Hawaiian, fairy tale, Star Trek, gothic, or even Elvis themes.
City breaks become habit forming since tourists just can't see everything in one trip.
