Lights Strobe - A Good Additional Safety Item For Emergency Vehicles Or Private Vehicles

. Some private vehicles have a strobe light. This would be one that plugs into a cigarette lighter and can be attached magnetically to a vehicle. This would be a great warning to other road users that you are stationary at the side of the road, say after a breakdown. Boats often have a lights strobe in their lighting kit for use in emergencies. The kind of lights strobe a private owner may have would likely be smaller than those in use by emergency vehicles or government department vehicles.

The way lights strobe works makes them highly visible. The rotating motion creates a very powerful lighting effect and it is for this reason alone that lights strobe are still popular on emergency vehicles today. Of course we tend to associate the lights strobe with police vehicles, fire vehicles and emergency vehicles but the strobe light can be applied to far more than vehicles.

Lights strobe can also be used in the entertainment world, whether it's our entertainment in clubs or for special effects in Hollywood. I think it's fair to say that Harold Edgerton, who is credited with inventing the strobe light, would not have thought of their vast use today. The old type strobe light used a capacitor and gas to create the light. Today we have LED light versions of lights strobe, which makes them far more energy friendly. LED lighting gives far less drain on battery power than any other type of light so are perfect for emergency vehicles.

All emergency vehicles need what are termed 'active visual warnings' and the flashing lights strobe would be such a warning. Highly visible in all light and weather conditions, the lights strobe is very effective in warning of danger. Any flashing light should attract the attention of road users and pedestrians and warn of its approach or the fact it's stationary at a roadside. Whatever the situation you see any flashing light you would do well to 'Move Over' and most states now have a move over law, which stipulates how you should react to flashing lights and sirens on the road.

Ignore the 'Move Over' law in your state at your peril. Most people who do not react, as they should are liable to be pulled over, fined and get points on their license. Getting a hefty fine is not a good way to learn of the law so you would do well to check it out before then. As with any law, ignorance is no defense! Any flashing lights strobe or indeed other forms are there for a reason. They are warning you of their approach or warning that they are in a hazardous place on the highway or road. Heed these warnings and keep our roads safer and your money in your pocket
