Liposuction Is Most Effective For Those Who Are Young With Healthy Elastic Skin

, there are certain factors that limit who can have cosmetic work done. Liposuction is a particularly limited procedure because it can be dangerous for some people. The success of this surgery depends in large part on the body of the recipient. Those with firm elastic skin are the best candidates.

In some ways, cosmetic surgeries seemingly work backward. People want to get surgery to fight the visible effects of aging, and yet most cosmetic surgeries are most successful for the young.

Why is this that? Shouldn't cosmetic surgeries help those who are getting older to look younger?

Well, that's the idea that many people have when they think of cosmetic surgery. The reality is somewhat different.

Surgeons have to work with a person's body as it already is. Those who have firm and flexible skin are much more likely to see good results, and most people with this kind of skin are also young.

But how young is young? Unfortunately, there are no hard and fast rules. Everyone ages differently and some people naturally have firmer skin than others. Naturally firm elastic skin is best because it is able to respond to changes that are made to the body.

This is particularly a concern when it comes to liposuction. Tiny incisions are made in an isolated area of the body and fat is sucked out through a tube after it has been broken up.

Usually only a few pounds of fat are sucked out at one time. The smaller the amount of fat to be removed, the higher the chances are for success.

One of the reasons that this is so is that the skin must be able to tighten up over the affected area once fat has been removed.

The area from which fat has been removed is usually, predictably, thinner. The skin does not need to stretch as much to cover it.

Skin that is not naturally elastic and healthy is not always able to do this. The result can be embarrassing hanging skin or a strangely dimpled and bumpy surface of the skin.

People who are young, say in their twenties or thirties, generally have skin that is able to respond very well to liposuction. Of course, the recipients must have a healthy lifestyle and already be within a healthy weight range.

Although liposuction can sometimes be done successfully on people who are older, the results are rarely as attractive as for younger people.

There are many risks associated with liposuction, and these too are increased for people who are older because older people tend to have more health problems than do young people.

Liposuction, as well as many other cosmetic surgeries, is really most effective for the young and healthy.
