Little Things That Make A Big Difference

Have you heard the fable about the pail of water and the bird that was thirsty

? For various reasons the bird could not get to the bottom of the pail, where the water was. So, the little bird began picking up little stones with his beak and dropping them in the pail of water. Stone after stone after stone and the little bird kept at it when suddenly he noticed the level of the water was raising and the bird could almost reach the water. A couple more stones and bingo! The thirsty bird could now reach the water to drink.

A lot of little things add up to a drop in the pail, and after so many drops that pail begins to fill up. Just like the bird and his pail of stones, there are lots of little things you can do that help to make a huge difference in your social media marketing endeavors, especially on Facebook. Here are a few of those little things:

1.Fan Page: If you havent already, I suggest creating a fanpage. Sure, there are a few drawbacks to fanpages, but in all honesty, the pros outweigh the cons, including, but not limited to, page insights. Facebook actually breaks down your pages visits, user interactions, and general user data to help you gage what your fans are interested in and what they dont care about.

2.Graphic: Do more with your page graphic than simply post a picture or logo. You can use this space for additional advertising. Make use of Facebooks cover photo area, but be sure to follow Facebooks rules.

3.About Info: When setting up your fanpage, it is very helpful to fill in the various sections about your company. When I come across a fanpage on Facebook and want to know more about them, I immediately go to their info section. Too often this section is left blank. Dont make the same mistake. Utilize this space.

4.Networking: I cant express how important it is to network and be social in social media marketing. People like to connect with others and need to connect. By merely posting, you dont connect, you merely post. To truly connect, you need to spend time networking and interacting.

I'd love to hear from you. What are some 'little things' you have done with regards to marketing on Facebook which you feel have helped make a difference? Remember, every little bit counts!
