Living On A Fixed Income

This world is hard to survive in and living on a fixed income does not help

. It is even more difficult if your spouse cannot find work. Even though it is being, said daily the economy is improving this is not the case in some areas.

Living on a fixed income means no extras just the bare necessities, and that is limited as well. You must prioritize your needs to rent or home payment, transportation, power and water then if there is any left over you have to try to feed yourselves for a month.

A fixed income leaves nothing for television, phone or internet unless your fixed income will allow these extra luxuries. Therefore, how do you survive; well you live cheap. Cheap means you eat sandwiches, soups, cereal, hot dogs, whatever is the cheapest at the food store you buy and eat.

Pay your home or rent first thing every month and your other bills. These are a necessity and must be, paid. You save by cutting your power bill, turn off all but one light and keep as limited usage as possible. Even if possible, limit showers to two or three per week.

You reuse your towels two or three times and wear the same clothes two days in a row. You will reduce your laundry bill. Furthermore, you can wash the clothes then hang them to dry to cut out the expense of drying in a machine.

Use any form of cheap public transportation, busses, subways, trains or pay a few dollars to a friend to get you to pay bills and the food store. This will help you out with the transportation. Car and auto insurance are luxuries on a fixed income.

Entertainment is also a luxury; however, you can spend a few dollars here and there to keep from being totally, bored out of your skill. Buy DVD's on sale for two or three dollars at the local discount store, these can be, watched repeatedly. You will be surprised that you will see new stuff each time you watch them again.

You can go to the library and read, or they have public internet if you need to stay in touch with friends and family. You can also come up with your own ways to save money and live on a fixed income if you put your mind to it. It is difficult to live on a fixed income however, it is not impossible.
