Last week I had to attend a corporate meeting facility and session for a couple of days

This was when I was grateful for the forethought which had gone in to planning the meeting and all the relevant details. There are various types of corporate meetings, in different settings, with specific goals and objectives for each. The first major steps require understanding the scope of duties and tasks needed to successfully plan and format the meeting, and building upon the skills of the planner to fulfil those duties.

Management meeting - A corporate meeting that is held for executives, sometimes in response to a corporate problem.

Corporate retreat - This might be held for any number of reasons, including corporate policy reinforcement, changes, or performance assessment.

If you are a small business, the ideal solution for most meetings is not to host at all, and offer to go to your client. Make sure, however, the travel costs don't outweigh the benefits of this choice. Fortunately, there are a multitude of alternative locations available to you, apart from large expensive meeting rooms, although these options these are not suitable for large corporate events. They range from those that don't cost a penny, to the downright expensive, meaning you can choose what works best for your client, and your budget.

I have attended quite a number of corporate events and I find that it is the small details which make a meeting go well, such as everyone arriving in a good mood and willing to listen. This circumstance is helped along by the location of the meeting place and a corporate meeting room in a nice hotel will always be more attractive than a large impersonal room in a commercial centre. Things such as comfortable chairs, modern tech facilities, frequent breaks with interesting activities and having nice food and drinks laid on will always help a meeting to go well.
