Looking For Car Hire In Italy?

Looking for car hire in Italy? Italy has an excellent network of roads and highways for you to enjoy your tour

. One of the most extensive networks in Europe, including nearly 4000mi/6400km of express highways and 180,000mi/288,000km of secondary roads. The country's famous super highways or 'autostrade' ('autostrada' is the singular form) run the length and breadth of the peninsula. These toll roads are supported by an excellent network of secondary roads, classified into different categories of national highways (strade statali), provincial roads (strade provinciali), and municipal roads (strade communali).

Many people ask to hire convertibles or automatic transmissions in Italy. If you want one of these cars it is advisable to book early!! Automatic transmissions and convertibles are scarce in Italy as rental cars so early booking is necessary.

To hire a car you must be at least eighteen years old (age may vary by car category, you should check at time of booking) and have held your license for one year. Drivers under the age of twenty-five may incur a young driver surcharge. Seatbelts are mandatory and children under twelve must wear an age-appropriate restraint.

Check the laws of the country you plan on touring for specifics, such as blood-alcohol limits, curfews, and such.

When you collect your vehicle, the supplier may take an imprint of your credit card. Deposits are required by suppliers to cover costs that are not part of your hire agreement, for example, returning the vehicle late, parking fines, and other charges that would otherwise not be charged except by the actions of the driver. If, at the end of the hire, there are no such costs, no charges are raised and the supplier destroys your credit card information.

If you plan on traveling to any other countries with your Italy car rental, normally there is no problem with taking a car from one country to another and back again, but you should always share your plans with your car rental company so they can notify you of any necessary information that may be vital to your travels, for instance, in Italy and other countries, you are generally prohibited from taking the car on a ferry.

Most local car rental companies allow for one-way trips as long as they are within the same country you rent in; some at no extra cost other than the mileage while others will charge a fee. But, it is not likely to find a local rental company who will allow you to rent their car in one country then allow you to drive it into and return it to a different country. If you need a one-way trip between two countries then you may fare better going direct to one of the major international car rental companies. The rental rate will be higher but you are more likely to get the one-way you need. Many brokers will not get involved in one-way contracts as it's time consuming and not cost effective for them.
