Looking Forward With The Learning Management System
Looking back through the years of education history it is astonishing to see the progress that we have made and the advances we have accomplished to further education
, who would have ever thought Learning Management System would have come into existence? The extreme change in what once was to what is now is mind blowing, but there are no signs of slowing down.Technology is ever changing as there is drive to accomplish the "latest and greatest" and we are starting to see signs of new advances in the learning management system and online learning modules.
Dating back to the 1700's when the classrooms consisted of numerous grade levels, abacuses were the start to a calculator's existence, and classrooms were confined to a one room school house. Education began a rapid growth as schools developed and open their doors to all ethnicities, social groups, ages, and genders. For the first time children were divided up according to age and placed in separate classrooms and lesson plans were created age or grade specific.
Now skip ahead a few centuries to when computers were "streamlined" and introduced for the first time in schools. They were integrated into the curriculum and became mandatory for students to learn how the computer operated and basic computer skills like typing.
Technology has now gone a step further as wireless internet was introduced. Now you can access internet on almost every college campus, local cafes, workplaces, and even some apartment complexes. High School students have started going paperless as all of their assignments are completed and submitted online. Students can access their schedule and the corresponding assignments that are up and coming.
Parents are now able to track how their children are doing in school with the help of the electronic report card. Colleges are taking another step further as they have enabled students to earn their degree online with help from a learning management system via distant learning programs to help further their education.
However, it does not stop there as technology in education continues to move forward creating even more effective and efficient means of higher education. New interactive courses have been newly implemented, virtual instructor led courses have been introduced, and assessment tools that are used to measure the success in the material have been applied.
Different learning methods have also been implemented into the online courses to appease learners of all styles, visual, auditory, and kinetic. This ultimately will facilitate effective learning and increased comprehension for the students as they pick courses that fit how they best learn.
Technology has opened so many doors of opportunity that has enabled us to further education endeavors with advanced learning management systems and tools. It is truly astounding to look back and see how far we have come, only to know that the future holds great promise and exciting new advances in the world of education.
