Lose the Last Ten Pounds!

Lose the Last Ten Pounds!

I'm one of those people who just loves to eat. I know that people roll their eyes when a lean and fit woman makes that statement, but it's true. I couldn't turn down a plate of spaghetti carbonara or a cup of pistachio gelato if my life depended on it. That's probably why it took me more than six years to lose the weight I gained during my last pregnancy. Like most people, I've struggled with my weight, especially when it came to losing those last ten pounds.

Those six years were rough on both my body and my self esteem. When I was younger, I could eat pizza and cookies every day and I looked fine with very little effort but that was no longer the case. I had to admit to myself that my diet was pretty bad and that I didn't exercise regularly. I ended up joining a very supportive gym and meeting lots of people who had similar issues. It was a great experience but that's not what this article is about. This article is about what happened when I tried to lose the last ten pounds and cross over from average and healthy to "hot".

As much as I'd love to tell you that people were supportive of my goal, they really weren't. Both friend and family asked me why I would bother losing any more weight and they told me that I looked "just fine" already. I wasn't trying to achieve some impossible weight or an anorexic nightmare, I just wanted to rock a bikini for the first time since before I had become a mother.

The big problem with this goal, as I discovered, is that the process of going from fat to healthy and from healthy to hot is not the same thing. I had to unlearn some of the diet and exercise "facts" that I had touted as gospel while losing my baby weight. I struggled a great deal in the beginning because I refused to let go of those myths. I kept slashing calories and working out even more but it got me nowhere.

Eventually, I figured out how to work smarter instead of harder. I was able to shorten my workouts and increase my calories so I could actually enjoy my life again. I could write a book about all the things I learned during my journey but I don't have to because someone with a lot more education and experience than I have already did. Check out his website here, because this guy really gets it and so can you with a little work and an open mind.
