What a strange book that is. Yes, the killers were caught, but Patterson is a detective is not conducive to their capture. His psychological "view" (all fairly obvious stuff), it does not identify the suspects, and he finds no evidence of acting in concert, not the chain of evidence. Of the two killers here, boy murderer himself is exposed as the police, including the cross, he could not even guess at his identity. Jack and Jill and catch the killers because the crisis is a video that rookie cop could be found on the shelf in the apartment suspects - a video-link was one of the murderers, namely the police to find. Even though the video is, the killer is right, no clues at all. Most of the mystery and thrillers work because the author gives readers the evidence and gives the reader the possibility that they could jointly for the detective. There is no evidence, and the reader has nothing to do but wait for the killers to be drawn. And as far as that goes, killers are much smarter and more interesting than an agent for them.
The only thing that might be acceptable if the writing was okay, but Patterson is doing what every journalism student learns not to do: it shows rather than telling. Each emotion is a sign of feeling, to be explained and were not detected, and the importance of each field in order to be developed and then repeated several times, in case your readers are too dense to get it. For example, if Jack and Jill killers finally discovered in their suburban home, Patterson devotes an entire page and tell us about how striking the contrast between their heinous crimes and the seemingly innocent home down the killers'. As a reader of these things is not only annoying and unattractive, it is offensive.
All in all, it's very disappointing to read, and have beaten better. It was the first Patterson novel I read, and I think it will last.

I am not much of a critic but I will give it a shot. It was interesting, not an edge of your seat type of thriller, but it kept a good pace. You know from the beginning who the killers are, but not really what their driving force is. So it keeps you trying to figure that out.
This was only my second Alex Cross book. I have 3 more now to read but I am not a speedy reader. It takes me a couple of weeks to get through a book with a full time job, online schooling with lots of homework, a home, husband and cats etc... But I definitely found time to read this book. It was interesting and hard to put down. I would read at night when I went to bed until I literally fell asleep and the book slipped from my hands. I give it 3 stars as it was interesting, but I have a lot more of James Patterson's books to read. One can't give them all 5 stars.
Lots of Kindle Typos
The book was excellent but the kindle version has lots of typos which made it frustrating at times to read.
mediocre story
As far as murder mystery type stories like this one, I consider Jack and Jill to be well below average. Not unreadablely bad, but just thoroughly mediocre. The killers are not very interesting, and their motivations are never really clear. There is a strange side-plot about a jouvenille killer, which doesn't seem to add much to the story. And then there is Alex Cross, who seems to solve this one on pure luck. Not a very compelling story at all.
The audiobook is average or better in terms of production values. The reader is pretty good, and they have some nice variety of voices and sounds etc. But nothing really stood out. Perhaps the cast had trouble getting excited about this dreary story just like the rest of us did.

Black Widow
This is not one of my favorites. Even though it is not that well written it still kept my attention. The plot involves a singer Maggie Bradford who is on trial for the murder of Will Shepard who was famous in the athletic world. The plot thickens when it appears that she may have murdered two husbands. Is she a Black Widow? Pick it up you will like it.
