Lures to Use in Trout Fishing!
I see sport fishing like a painting.
I see sport fishing like a painting.
The idea is in your head. You just have to know the right kind of brush, right kind of paint and right kinds of strokes to catch that floating image and place it into your canvas. See the uncanny similarities? No? Let me make it clearer, then.
Before you go sport fishing (in this case trout fishing), you already have your trophy in mind! What kind of trout? Brown trout or rainbow trout? A 20-inch perhaps? That's the idea. In fishing you scout for your trout in bodies of waters. Experts in this art would recommend searching for your trout in these places:
Deep holes and rapids which are a bit deep. You will find it very effective, and have greater success in these areas since trout like to hang out in these areas for longer periods of time.
Locations where there are slow moving barriers like rocks. Rocks that block the current of the water are favorite resting areas for traveling trout.
Once you've gotten a grasp of where to fish for trout, it would now be time to dip your line in the waters, like a brush to paint. However the question of what stroke and what type of brush, rather what type of lure to use, doesn't rely heavily on sight but more on your creativity.
Like painting, you can choose your lures from many different types like you can choose your colors for drawing out your picture from that sea of ideas in your head. And like all art, the best way to tell is from experience. So let that be what teaches you.
However, there are always tips and guidelines to help you through your venture. Especially for beginners, it may be really disheartening when you get into the situation where your lure doesn't work as well as you expected it to. But don't give up just yet when you get to that point.
It's just one of those phases where you have to expand the horizon of your creativity. Tips from experts would recommend trying the same lure repeatedly, but again, those tips are from their standpoint. Their technique is bound not to work for all cases.
"The idea is to learn which you prefer most of the two most used lures and experience them for yourself, then decide which is best for you."
Just in case, here are some types of lures that you can try dipping in those currents. Some experts (and I repeat, some) would prefer using a rooster tail as your lure, but here are a few other good options that you might want to look into.
Cleos
Panther Martins
Pin's Minnows
Keep in mind when choosing your lure, the character of your trout - they're elusive and smart. It will definitely require patience in drawing them out, but along with a lot of practice the results will be worth it. Like painting that image you picture in your mind, your selected combination of varieties of materials may not always work. Think of this as an opening to try other combinations.
