Luscious Larnaca

Larnaca is situated on the east coast of the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea

. Cyprus lies just off the south coast of Turkey and has wonderful temperatures all year round meaning cheap holidays in Larnaca can be enjoyed at any time.

There are three stunning beaches around Larnaca Bay and the main area has a picturesque tree lined promenade. Water sports are readily available along the eight miles of coastline with windsurfing, parasailing, jet skiing, banana boats and fly fishing to test the adrenalin seekers. You'll be spoilt for choice around the picturesque harbour at Mackenzie Beach with a great selection of succulent fish restaurants. Scuba diving and snorkelling simply have to be tried on all holidays in Larnaca with one of the most famous shipwrecks lying on the sea bed just off the coast here. The remains of the Zenobia are just one of the wonderful sights that greet scuba divers in this area along with tunnels and reefs, colourful fish and fascinating corals.

Larnaca is a shopaholics paradise with a wonderful mix of designer boutiques and traditional shops to choose from. Wooden crafts, jewellery, lace, leather goods and pottery can all be found at the local market stalls, and then there are the usual tacky souvenir and bucket and spade shops.

Golf is also a favourite pastime on holidays in Larnaca with three amazing courses all set in amazing surroundings.

The traditional dish around here is the 'mezze' similar to tapas you will be offered a selection of dishes finishing off with fresh fruit. There are plenty of first class restaurants to try whilst on holidays in Larnaca with Chinese, Italian, Indian and Greek just some of the specialities to choose from.

You can make anything you want of the nightlife on offer on Larnaca holidays. Families will love the traditional entertainment of Bouzouki music and dancing and there are a couple of discos for those who love to dance later into the night. There's always Ayia Napa just along the road for those who prefer to party well on through the night and into the next day. You might also be lucky enough to time your holidays in Larnaca when one of the many festivals is taking place.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site at Kalavasos and Choirokitia shows off its fascinating Stone Age excavations and is definitely worth a visit on all holidays in Larnaca. You can visit the Moslem shrine of Hala Sultan Tekke just next to the shimmering salt lakes to the south of the town. Perched high on a hill above the town is the Stavrovouni monastery, the oldest one in Cyprus, however women are permitted to visit but not enter the monastery.

Despite being a year round destination, cheap holidays in Larnaca can usually be found during the winter months when the temperatures are a little cooler and the resort a bit quieter.
