Lying Leg Curls - Develop Huge Muscles With This Leg Training Exercise
The Lying Leg curl is a very basic but very effective exercise for training your hamstrings
. It is an isolated exercise meaning the entire benefits will be seen in your hamstring when you do this workout. The hamstring is located at the back of your leg which makes this exercise a great complementary exercise for the leg extension which focuses on the front of your leg.
To perform this exercise you will need access to a lying leg curl machine so you are most likely going to have to hit the gym for this exercise, unless of course you happen to have a lying leg curl machine in your home!
Here is how to perform a lying leg curl:
1: Get face down on the curl machine and tuck your heels under the pads.
2: Make sure you grab the side handles if you need the support.
3: Lift the weight with your legs all of the way until your leg is fully curved.
4: Hold the weight for a second or two and then slowly return it to starting position. This is one rep.
5: Repeat for the desired number of reps. If you are looking to build muscle then you should be doing between 6 and 9 reps for either 2 or 3 sets. If you are just looking to tone your muscles then you should be doing between 12 and 15 reps for either 3 or 4 sets.
Once this exercise begins to become easier for you try to increase the weight or to increase the number of reps you are doing per set.
