MBA Admissions 2011 : IIM Udaipur & IIM Kashipur announce start of Admissions 2011

More good news is coming in for MBA aspirants who have done well in CAT 2010 exam. From this year two new IIMs are going to be functional. These IIMs are IIM Udaipur and IIM Kashipur. These will be the 11th and 12th IIMs respectively.

The mentor IIMs of these two IIMs have announced the start of the admissions process for the first batch of students. The admission process of IIM Udaipur will be conducted by IIM Indore, while IIM Kashipur will be mentored by IIM Lucknow. Both the new IIMs will use the CAT 2010 scores for the admission.

Let us look at the admissions criteria that will be adopted by the mentor IIMs of these new IIMs:

IIM Udaipur, Rajasthan

According to IIM Indore, the selection will be based on the Written Ability Test (WAT) and personal interview. The tentative dates for conducting the same are June 10 and June 12, 2011 and the cities in which the admission process will be conducted are Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata and Mumbai. The number of seats for the PGP 2011-13 batch of IIM Udaipur is 72. For the 72 seats, 576 candidates will be invited.

The overall cut off CAT percentile for the General Category candidates is 90. The sectional cut off is 85 percentile.

Important Dates

-- Last date to send application forms: Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

-- Release of the shortlisted candidates to appear for WAT and PI: Monday, May 30, 2011

-- WAT & PI process: June 10 to 12, 2011

-- Declaration of the Final Admission List: Saturday, June 18, 2011

-- Beginning of Session 2011-13: Monday, July 11, 2011

IIM Kashipur, Uttarakhand

IIM Kashipur admission will be conducted by IIM Lucknow. To apply for IIM Kashipur, a candidate should have minimum 90 percentile overall percentile and 80 percentile in each sections of CAT 2010. The last date to send the application forms to IIM Lucknow is Monday, April 18, 2011.

The admission process will involve personal Interview. 30 percent weightage will be given to the Personal Interview and 70 per cent weightage will be given to the CAT 2010 scores.

Fees for the two year MBA program in IIM Kashipur will be Rs. 4 Lakh per year.

The announcement of the launch of IIM Udaipur and IIM Kashipur was made by the Ministry of HRD in 2010. But the institutes were not mentioned in the official CAT website (www.catiim.in) during the conduct of CAT 2010. The announcements have been made off late.
