MLM Marketing System Missing Link

MLM Marketing System Missing Link

MLM Marketing System Missing Link

There is absolutely no doubt any successful mlm business uses a good mlm marketing system for prospecting and promotion. A system is essential for building business. It is the backbone of your business. So why do some people fail, even when they are using the most proven system? The missing link is people skills.

My experience has been, no matter how great the mlm marketing system, if a person can't make a real connection with people, the system won't work for them. The purpose of a marketing system is primarily for marketing, for lead generation, and a step by step process for business builders to follow. Yet, at some point, there needs to be human contact to produce actual results and grow your business. Perhaps, you are one of those people that have been following a system with little to no results, and you are questioning whether the system actually works or have you been duped?

Most likely, you haven't been misled; you've simply been missing the most fundamental training for any mlm marketing system people skills. Not everyone is a born networker, or a natural relationship builder. The truth is, that is precisely why Dale Carnegie's book How To Win Friends & Influence People has been such a great seller. The art of relating to people is a skill that must be developed. People are self absorbed by nature, and even though that may sound negative, it's the truth. People think about themselves and their situation more than they think about anything else. Succeeding in the mlm industry requires a shift in your focus, taking me out of the picture, and learning to put other people before you.

How I Discovered The Missing Link In My MLM Marketing System

There was a small group of people within my team that were the ultimate students. They were present at all training calls, they were advertising, they were making personal sales, they were actively attending leadership training, BUT, they were not very successful with recruiting. We had to figure out the challenge, because they were following all the steps in our mlm marketing system, and doing exactly what they were instructed, but they just were not getting the same conversion rate that I was. I opened my conference line and allowed them to hear several contacts and interviews, so they would experience my approach and style. The feedback answered the challenge question. What I heard certainly made me feel pretty good about my own skills, but, more importantly it also made me realize the type of training our team was desperate for.

Lessons Learned

1. Listening is our most important communication skill. You must ask many questions, pay attention, and become a good note taker. The focus was on learning the person's current situation, and their needs and desires. You see, a person can feel that you understand them, and are listening when you can recap for them what they are currently experiencing, what their destination is, and how that would impact their life. Listening isn't about finding out how to manipulate a person, but rather understanding exactly what they want and why they want it. The need to feel important is at the heart of every human being, and when you can help a person feel important without the use of flattery, you have someone who is interested in speaking with you again.

2. The team learned that rapport equals trust. If you don't take the time to do some rapport building, people can be uncomfortable sharing details of their life with you. My first goal with all of my appointments, is to take a little time for a light conversation about the town they live, or any interesting topics I may have learned about them during our initial contact. Essentially I am creating a warm environment, making it easier for them to share more detailed information with me later. Rapport is trust building, so highlight this within your mlm marketing system.

3. A competent leader is a confident leader. The reference to competence in this particular situation is about feeling comfortable with the process. My team noticed that because I was very comfortable asking personal questions about finances and credit, my candidates seemed very comfortable answering without hesitation, whereas this was problematic for their interviews. You need to be comfortable with your mlm marketing system and understand the reasoning behind each step in the process. For example, knowing an individuals financial picture, allowed us to direct them approporiately if a mutual decision to work with our company was made. Knowing the details of your system takes the pressure off the next step, and gives you room to focus on building the relationship with your prospective partner.

4. The team learned the concept of mirroring a personality. People like people like themselves. The idea of mirroring isn't about changing your personality, on the contrary, it's engaging people at their level. If someone is a chatterer, they seem to be lively, then you basically meet their energy level. If a person is more passive and restrained, then you slow down your pace to meet theirs. This basically allows one to become comfortable, and they can be more open and honest with you.

Providing Skills Training With Your MLM Marketing System

These lessons forced us to restructure how we trained these skills with our mlm marketing system. Each week, we held a one hour training session dedicated to in depth process and script training. This training call consisted of role playing and feedback for our team. The scripts were broken down teaching why each element was important, and why each question was relevant, because we learned that understanding why was as important as how. We were equipping our team with communication and relationship building skills and improving our team building skills.

The key question to ask, is how are you teaching and advancing skills in human relations with your mlm marketing system? If the answer is nothing, you are missing the most important ingredient in any system. This industry is built on relationships, so having a proven mlm marketing system just isn't enough. The missing link is people skills. By combining excellent people skills with a proven turn key system, achieving the level of success you want is only a matter of time.
