MPLS VPN complements with MPLS-based VPN solutions from Cisco by simplifying service assurance, provisioning and billing processes, hence reducing cost of operating and deploying VPN services. MPLS VPN consists of a number of sites that are linked through network service provider based on MPLS. Each site has one or more customer edge, which is connected to one or more provide edge. PEs use multi-protocol to communicate with each other dynamically. It does not require that the number of IP addresses used in the two VPNs be mutual exclusive as the PEs translates IP addresses into IP VPN entities. The IP addresses used in VPN should be exclusive of the group of addresses applied in the service provider network. Each EC must deal with the PEs where it is directly connected. Hence, the IP addresses of PEs should not be duplicated in any virtual private network.
