Going off to college is really exciting for graduating seniors, but it can also be scary and hard. Even the smallest things like having to give up their backpacking gear that they would not be able to use might make them a little sad. Just because you are going off to college does not mean that you will never use your outdoor camping supplies again however. Regardless, saying goodbye to certain things is a hard part of college. There is a lot of work to be done when getting ready to jet off to school as well. The summer before your freshman year of college is exhilarating, stressful and a bit sad. With all these different emotions, it could be a long three months. Here is some advice on handling getting ready for college with ease.One of the most exciting parts of getting ready for college is picking out dorm stuff. This part is probably something parents dread, due to all the money they might have to spend. You and your parents should find a place with great merchandise for a great price so that you both are happy. Some examples of stores where you both might be happy are many popular discount stores. Some of the stores offer a whole line of things for students living in dorms and apartments. Everything is priced for that target audience as well. Also, make sure to shop smart. Do not try to pick something too fancy and realize your boundaries. Do not forget to print out pictures of your friends and memories for your wall. Another exciting part of getting ready for college is picking out your classes for next year. This is probably when you will realize that you are actually going to college. For your freshman year, it is important to choose classes that will be a bit of a challenge but not to get overburden. Keep in mind that you will be adjusting to a new situation so added stress probably would not come kindly. Also, if you have not decided on a major yet, do not stress. Most freshman students take core classes, so you would not be too far off the track.Getting ready to leave college might be scary for kids who are very attached to their families or homes. The biggest thing to remember is that you will be back in just a couple of months. Everyone has to leave the nest sometime; you cannot live with your parents forever. It can be equally as hard for parents too, sometimes harder. College is the first big step into adulthood, so it can be an emotional time for parents. Leaving your friends can be just as hard as leaving your parents. In this situation, you just need to remember that the people you really care about and will have a lasting friendship with will stay in your life. Also, you will meet people in college that become life-long friends. It is a time to grow and change so you will meet new types of people that balance or compliment your own personality.
