Make Use Of The Privilidge Of Prayer!
This advice seems a little humorous to some people because it's usually given to those whose sexual desires have been aroused. But cold water is a great energizer. Few things will clear out the cobwebs and wake us up so easily as a dose of cold water. It can even help alleviate the pain of a depression. And it can certainly get those "slow starters" going in the morning.

It's usually not a good idea to jump right into a cold shower. Warm water is relaxing and comforting; it helps free us from tension and promotes a feeling of well-being. For those reasons it's a good idea to start off with a warm shower. Then when you're good and relaxed, you can gradually turn the warm water down until the water is as cold as you can stand it. Stay under it as long as you can and then turn the warm water back on. You may need to do this several times, but I'll guarantee you that it will make you feel alert and energetic.
One caution: Some people advocate that you finish off the shower with cold water. I haven't found this advice useful. Cold water inhibits circulation and, for some people, promotes tension. I've found it's better to end the shower with warm water. Stay under several minutes in order to get the blood flowing freely. The energizing effects of the cold water won't be counteracted by the relaxing effects of the warm water.
TAKE CAT NAPS
For those who are able to take them, short naps are a great way to recharge you with energy. Tired, tense workers or homemakers will usually profit from a few minutes spent on the couch, free from distractions. Even if you don't go to sleep, the benefits of lying down for a few minutes and suspending all cares are well worth it.
The daily cat nap is a much better way to handle tension than tranquilizers, alcohol, or sedatives. After a short nap (and I emphasize the word short) you often feel a surge of energy. I've found that creativity is enhanced after a nap. A short nap after work may make the remainder of the evening more enjoyable. The father who comes home from work too tired to interact with his family would profit from a quick nap before dinner (his family would profit as well). He would no doubt be more enjoyable to interact with, and he in turn would enjoy his family more.
For the person who is driven on by tension and emotional energy, the daily cat nap would probably prolong his life. This person is highly prone to heart attacks. By suspending all drive and tension for a few minutes each day, he would both increase his immediate energy and extend his productive years into later life.
People differ in their need for and ability to tolerate naps during the day. A few people say that they can't take any naps without disturbing their nightly sleep patterns. Others report that they are simply unable to go to sleep during the day unless they're exhausted. For these people a nap may be unrealistic. But even lying down for a few minutes and relaxing as completely as possible should be of benefit to them. When you lie down your heart works less; you save around twenty heartbeats a minute. This practice adds up over the years. It has both immediate and long-term benefits.
MAKE USE OF THE PRIVILEGE OF PRAYER
Prayer has many recognized benefits. Besides the obvious advantage of spiritual growth, strength, and communion with God it also promotes physical and mental health. "I can be exhausted, fed up, feeling like I can't take any more, but then after thirty minutes of prayer these feelings are replaced by a spirit of faith, courage, and peace." This is a common testimony of people who pray. Many people wonder how those who don't pray are able to maintain their sanity One woman said, "If I weren't a praying Christian I'd have had a breakdown years ago."

Prayer has emotional, as well as spiritual, benefits. To some extent, mental states such as depression, guilt, despair, and dejection are emotional disorders. But to a large extent they are also spiritual disorders. Prayer helps alleviate these experiences. It puts us in touch with divine strength. It frees our energy energy that is being used up by these negative emotions for use in more constructive activities. It replaces these energy-depletes with such energy-enhancers as faith and courage. The person who prays often is likely to find the energy he needs to meet any task. Christ frequently spent all night in prayer, and he suffered no energy loss because of it. If he needed that kind of prayer, how much more do you and I need it!
