Making A Charity Donation
Making a charity donation is an easy thing to do, and as a nation we do it all the time. It is estimated that three out of every four of us regularly and willingly give to charity. That's an impressive figure. It means we care as a nation. We want to help the causes that the many charities stand for.
Of course, the more popular charities do tend to benefit more than the lesser known ones. We are more likely to give to a cancer charity than one that is attempting to rescue an old listed building, but all charities benefit to some degree from our basic generosity. There is always someone who will gladly make a charity donation to an obscure, but nonetheless worthy, cause.
There are many ways to make a charity donation. Collection boxes are everywhere in all kinds of public places. All you have to do is drop a coin, or lots of coins - or even a bank note - into the collection box. You will feel good about doing it and the charity will benefit from the donation.
Perhaps the most common way we give to charity is through the collection tin. We see them at special events and wherever people gather. The tin, which is actually usually plastic these days, will have the name of the charity on it and you will be invited to drop some coins into the slots on the top of the tin. Most of us do when presented with a collection tin, which must mean that it is a very good way of making a charity donation.
Every so often we are presented with a TV spectacular that raises money for charity. The Live Aid concert, Comic Relief, Children in Need - these are just a few examples of high profile ways of fund raising events for charity. There are low profile ways too, often on radio, or late at night on TV, that help to raise funds. They all work, for we always respond.
One very effective way to make a charity donation is to include a charity of your choice in your will. Yes, it does involve you thinking about that inevitable day when you are no longer around, but this is the perfect opportunity to make your worldly wealth do something worthwhile for a charity.
Don't leave out your family. Make sure they are well provided for, but if you can spare a little extra, consider a legacy gift to a charity in your will. When it comes to making a charity donation, this is one of the most effective ways of doing it.
