Making Halloween Parties Enjoyable

Halloween is a holiday most people look forward to

. Kids and adults alike love to dress up as ghosts, ghouls, witches, monsters, or as their favorite television or cartoon characters and go around the neighborhood soliciting treats. Its a great opportunity to get together with old friends and make new ones--and we can make it all the more special by holding a party! Here are some tips for a great kiddie (and adult) party:

Have an outdoor party. Do away with boring indoor parties--if the weather is not too cold, have one outside! Find a location where kids enjoy running around. If you can have a night time or twilight party, all the better! With a few twinkling lights and creative ornaments, you can create a realistic Halloween atmosphere that wont cost you an arm and a leg.

Prepare lots of treats. Anyone who has a bit of kid in him loves fun-shaped candies, cupcakes, and cookies, especially when allowed to join in preparing the treats. Start your Halloween early by making a fun activity out of smearing icing on cupcakes and dipping fruit bits in chocolate syrup. There are a lot of Halloween recipes on the Internet. Find those which are easy to prepare and not too expensive to make. Simple treats will do, as long as they are visually attractive.

Create a set of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Organize a Halloween treasure hunt to help the kids develop their social skills. Create riddles and clues that are simple yet challenging to solve. The Internet has loads of Halloween treasure hunt software to make your planning and organizing easier.

Drum up some ideas for additional party games you can play after the Halloween treasure hunt. The treasure hunt usually wont take very long, so prepare more fun activities that kids and adults can both participate in--encourage bonding between family members by having games meant to be played in pairs.

Have an awarding ceremony before the end of the party. Give special awards to people with special participation, such as prizes for answering the most number of clues and riddles during the Halloween treasure hunt, early bird prizes, and of course prizes for best costume, most original costume, and most frightening get-up, among other things.
