Making The Most Of Your Garden

Your garden is an extension of your home and with a little planning and work you

can create an extra living space where you can relax on warm summer evenings or entertain guests. Take the time to sit down and decide what you want from your garden area and how you will achieve this. Decide a budget so that you know what you can spend on each area of your garden.

One of the main areas of any garden is the fencing, which will ensure privacy as well as keeping the area safe and secure so that young children or pets cant wander off. An area that looks dowdy and run down can soon be renovated with new fencing, giving a fresh look to the garden. If you want complete privacy your perimeter fencing should be six foot tall and traditional fence panels are the popular fencing for the boundary. As an alternative you could have a smaller fence with trellis at the top which provides an open area where you can trail climbing roses or ivy.

The one area of our gardens that is hard to disguise is the dustbins, which can completely ruin the hard work you have put into your garden. It is possible to build a store for your rubbish bins with fencing and trellis which will disguise the dustbins and become a feature of your garden. If you have a large garden you may want to have a seating area which is separate from the rest of the garden, especially if you have children who want a play area. An arbour or an arch which leads to the seating area will provide a peaceful spot where you can spend some time alone or relaxing in the evening after a hard days work.

Here at Wickes we stock many types of fencing as well as decorative panels such as trellis or arches so that you can create a garden which is suitable for all the family. We will also deliver your fencing at a time that is convenient to you so that you arent wasting time trying to get your purchases home.

All types of garden fencing have to be erected properly with the correct fence posts and making sure that the fence will be sturdy, especially if you live in an area which is open to the elements and could possibly suffer wind damage. Fence posts which are secured in concrete are the preferred option in areas exposed to inclement weather.

Metal fencing is usually used in commercial properties but can be used in domestic properties too, as wrought iron gates are very popular. For anyone who wants privacy but doesnt want panel fencing, a solid bottom half with trellis on top is a popular way to be private but still allow glimpses of the outside world, whilst wrought iron gates offer security but still allow you to see out.

Whichever type of garden fencing you choose, with clever use of fencing, trellis and arches you can transform your garden into an attractive living area which will become an extension of your home.
