Making a Good First Impression

When meeting others the very first time, its of the up most importance you make a good first impression

. The reason behind this is simply since your future interactions with that person, depend largely, on their perception of you the 1st time you met.

Before you even say a thing, the person has judged you on your appearance. So it's essential that you dress well and carry yourself well. This doesn't mean you have to have you hair slicked back, and be wearing the very best suit money can buy. It means that you look presentable, so your clothes are neat and tidy, and that you're well groomed. You basically want to come across as if there's something about you, you value yourself, and that you're clean. When you bear that in mind, you'll achieve the appearance I mention.

The way you great the person is also a big factor. So when meeting someone the first time, employ a big, welcoming smile, and give them either a firm handshake, a kiss on the cheek, or a hug, obviously depending on who you're dealing with and the situation. Judge this wisely, as it is not recommended to give your interviewer an enormous hug, when a firm handshake would've sufficed.

People also judge others on how they smell, so aim to smell pleasant all the time. You don't necessarily have to wear a strong aftershave or perfume, and often times this will cause further issues since the person may well not enjoy the smell, but as long as you smell pleasant, not dirty, not of body odour, you will be fine. Sometimes, simply employing a deodorant underneath your clothes is enough.

Referring to smells, your breath is yet another major concern, which i constantly encounter with other people. When meeting anybody, even when you've met them before, it's recommended to be sure that you don't have anything stuck in your teeth, and that your breath smells fresh. No one wants to communicate with someone, who has black bits in the gaps of their teeth, or whose breath has the aroma of hot trash.

These are the basic principles that i follow on a day to day basis, and I am hoping that they'll boost your social interactions in the future.
