I have observed so many chickens just walking around the yard and not even daring to fly out of it, they merely stay without fear. I had always wondered if ever the owners of these chickens somehow trained them like they would dogs. I was surprised to recognise that chickens can get trained from an early stage not to go away the yard area, if they had been trained in the chicken coops.

Call me naive, but I actually thought that chickens and chicken coops meant they were locked in and only allowed out in a fenced in area, not for training purposes. I soon learned that chicken coop can be used as a training tool for chickens to figure out how to trust the region and make it into their home or territory.

There are some owners who do not like the thought of cooping their chickens until they die, so they really build chicken coops with chicken runs beside them. The chicks can run along it and acquire the taste of freedom in addition to get shelter if they need them.
