They are the easiest way to promote a websiteand are also the main source of income for a site. The text ads also help when trying to rank higher in search engines rank for keywords.
The main purpose ofTVcommercialsis to make you remember and buy a product. Depending on its type they may try to convince that this product is the best on the market. So an effectiveadvertisementshould either be great and make you remember it because it is interesting or it should either be so stupid that you actually remember it because of this. A perfect example of this is the stupid and annoying Skittles commercial. So I suppose there really is not such thing as anticommercial. These are only audio ads and do not have the same effect as video ads do but they still work. When advertising on the radio some annoying ad can only piss off people, so the radio commercials should be pleasant for the listeners.

There are also flash banners which could be a couple seconds of video or even a very small game.
