Marketing Idea: Dressing For Sales Advancement Within a modern-day sales industry

It's funny but as a sales mentor and specialist it's rare that I sport a tie anymore.

And did you know what I don't miss them one iota!

It's incredible just how time marches on so swiftly that the book

I have read ten years ago is already obsolete. . I refuse to give the name of the book because for one it wouldn't be right and secondly it was one of the best selling book in the '90s.Some of the tips that were given with regard to dressing for success were:

Men's suits should be solid blue or gray, pinstripe or chalk stripe or simple gray checkered. Made of wool or even polyester that looks just like wool, is definitely preferred. The richer the suit, the more influence it bears, though black is funeral. Men's tops and ties are important. Generally, shirts must be white and even lighter blue or include modest stripesThe age range of the salesman and the customer he is facing could alter the choice of dress. For salesman, considerably a lot more younger when compared with his customers, significantly buyers above the age forty-eight, it is better that the salesman follow the superior pattern of a dark suit including a white top.'

Whoa!

What in depth and distinct tips. What will happen to patrons at the age group of 48? Could there really be a handful of known professional buyer menopause' cycle that takes over? Do you reckon that is true in today's modern day business world?

If you ask me I don't but I'd personally like to listen to your opinions. If you ask me I do believe that you need to dress suitably for the conditions. And if you are at a sales situation you should take time to know the position of the person and corporation you're going to come across.

Planning like this is still relatively prevalent. I was in fact at a celebration lately and chatting away to somebody that said:

"This celebration looks like it's a lot better than the last one I joined in London. It had been brimming with scruffy gits, who actually couldn't get dressed effectively and not one of them was donning a suit!"

Watch out for taking a short sighted frame of mind like this in todays modern business environment. Many of the most well-heeled, important, forward thinking businessmen I know would never think of wearing a tie, let alone a suit. Some you wouldn't get out of their particular flip-flops! Nevertheless, if you are selling to this person (he was a Sales Director) you would never get anywhere with out using suit at the very least. It's not really proper mainly because all of us want to think that we are evaluated on the value we bring instead of appearances, but it really still crops up.

My own personal beliefs was very much carved in my teens and in particular one situation the moment I went to get a car. When I was 19, I was privileged to be in a position to go and purchase the latest Volkswagen Golf by means of the family business. Despite the fact that I was technically a university student at that time this was to become a company car'. The issue was I dressed just like a college student. And not an excellent one as well!

I remember wandering through a few showrooms while the salespeople simply ignored me as if I'm not really there. Yes, I appeared scruffy but I pretty much had a cheque of 15,000 in my safety pocket to pay. I never really stumbled upon anybody to take an interest in me and had to force myself upon a salesperson after I got tired of looking around garages. I am going to always remember that lesson.

Be aware whom you judge!

Should you be in sales then simply dress effectively. If uncertain you can't get it wrong with dressing well or a method of putting it is to dress up exactly how the people who advise your potential buyer dress i.e their bank executive and financial advisor.
