Maruti Alto is the right choice for first car buyers. It is compact and economical, that makes it very much apt for Indian middle-class families. Suzuki Japan introduced this model in 1979 globally but in India it was introduced in 2000. This car is one of the most successful and best-selling hatchbacks of the nation.

Recently the company has introduced Alto K10 variant, which is equipped with advanced K10 engine that is more powerful and assure to give brilliant performance. Since its launch till 2008 the company had sold more than one million Alto units, which stands as record of Indian automobile industry. Alto is the best fuel efficient car with the most attractive price.

Maruti India lost on 50 percent of its market share for the first time in India recently. So the company came out with lots of new cars including new Alto K10 variants, which proves to be the best of its variant and likely to play great role on Maruti Suzuki's business in India. Before the launch of K10, Alto has a configuration of 0.8 Liter engine with the displacement of 796 cc petrol with manual transmission.

Later on the company launched CNG engine and K10 engine, equipped with 1.0 Liter K10 petrol engine with the displacement of 998 cc with 3 cylinder that has the capacity to churn out maximum power of 68 ps at 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 68 nm at 3500 rpm. K10 engine is available in two variants LXi and VXi. Currently both new and old versions of Alto are running successfully in Indian market.

Multi Point Fuel Injection and (MPFI) and BS-IV complaint make sure to keep the car eco-friendly and give great mileage. For the record, Alto gives the mileage of 20.0 kmpl in highways and in city it gives the mileage of 14.8 kmpl.

Maruti Alto is available in eight variants including K10 series. The base variant starts up with a price of 2.5 lacs and the top-LXi variant costs somewhere around 3.5 lacs. The available Alto colors in India are blue blaze, silky silver, fire brick red, midnight black, superior white and ecru beige. The top three competitors of Maruti Alto are Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai Santro and Ford Figo.

Coming to safety features, this small compact car is equipped with lot of safety features like fog lamp, child lock, central lock, key off reminder, tubeless tyres, high mount stop lamps, seat belts, head restrains, clear lens tail and headlamps, Intelligent Computerized Anti Theft System (iCATS), collapsible steering, side impact beams and many more.

As a conclusion, Alto is not only an economical car but it also keeps the driver and passengers secure with its safety features. Most importantly the maintenance is cheaper, as its services and spare parts are available and affordable.
