Maruti Intends To Expand Its Service Network

The top carmaker of the country, Maruti Suzuki has decided a massive plan for expanding

its service network to more then 4,200 outlets from 2,700 all over India. Maruti Suzuki The company will do so to achieve its target of doubling its sales to more than 2 million cars by the year 2015. As per an initial estimate of Maruti Suzuki, the aforesaid expansion of the company will require a total investment of about Rs 250 crore. Primarily, this amount will be borne by dealer partners of Maruti for the additional fifteen hundred centres. These centres are also known as the Maruti Authorised Service Station (MASS). The senior executives of the company stated that Maruti has decided and planned a blueprint for the expansion that would grow the companys network by around 55%. This in turn will surely help the company to attain its target of providing a Maruti service outlet within each 25 kms for its customers all over the country.

Pankaj Narula, executive officer, (service) Maruti Suzuki, commented that the companys network will be extended to the newer cities, so that, it can be taken from the present 1,300 cities to more than 2,000 cities in the coming five years. This step taken by the company will also encourage and increase employment for around 55,000 persons across companys service network from the 33,000 at present. He further added that the company is expecting service at its network multiply manifold as Maruti Suzuki, country's top carmaker, scales up capacity to over 1.75 million units by the year 2103.

Maruti Suzuki, at present sells cars which range from Rs 2 lakh (Maruti 800) to Rs 16 lakh (Grand Vitara). In the domestic market, the company has a price band with around 50% market share. It is to be mentioned here that the 12th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya, one of the most awaited motorsport event in the country will take place from 10th October to 16th October. To make it more gruelling and exciting, this years event will take a more challenging route. This edition has 164 teams in the fray with 277 participants; which is the maximum participation ever. The Raid-de-Himalaya event will span across 6 days to traverse a distance of 2,000 kms through the vigorously undulating terrains in the Western Himalayas.
