Maryland Nissan Suggests a Car Emergency Kit

Keeping a car emergency kit in your Nissan is a good way to prevent minor situations from becoming potential emergencies

. Maryland Nissan suggests keeping a preparedness kit in the trunk of your car, so you'll be ready for whatever challenges you might face whether traveling around the state of Maryland or across the country.

Here are some suggestions for what types of things you might include in your Nissan emergency kit:

Flashlight and extra batteries (remember to replace batteries every few months because even unused batteries begin to lose their power)

Road flares

White flag for window

Orange caution cones

Jumper cables

Travel-sized tool kit

Spare tire with car jack

Fluids for windshield, transmission, oil, brakes

Basic first aid kit (bandages, burn ointment, medical tape, gauze)

During the winter, a few additional items will complete your emergency kit and make sure you're prepared for even the coldest of Maryland winters:

When you're traveling long distance or through areas you are unfamiliar with, it may also be worthwhile to include non-perishable food, toilet paper and a jug of water just in case you should break down and have to wait for help for a long time. Cell phones are great to call for help, but you never know when you're going to find yourself without battery or service!
