How I maximized my conference experience using Leebug

Conventions, conferences, social media, networking, connecting and business all seem to fit together in 2010. With the invention of major convention centers there has been a movement to try and fill them since the early 1900's and with just cause. Not only do these places provide a revenue stream for event professionals and businesses but they have also been able to capture the thoughts and minds of people for as far as we can remember. I think the world would agree that we have a convention and conference itch that has to be scratched quite often in this country, and all over the world for that matter. Without these events, we would have no growth in brainpower for some industries and a complete phase out for others. Enter a new site called Leebug.com.

So that brings up the issue of travel and time. When do we all find the time to make it to every convention in the world to network and grow our business? Is that even possible? I, personally, have found that I am able to get to one or two conventions a month at most. I am not alone; there are other businesspeople, who are far busier than I, that cannot make it to any with their jam packed schedules. This is not only a shame for them personally as I am sure they would like to attend everything they can, but it more of a shame for all of us as attendees. Conventions were built on the premise of creating an ecosystem that provides knowledge and information sharing for groups of like minded people. Well today, we call that the conference ecosystem and it has grown out of control. People have grown so accustom to having to travel across the country to meet others in their field it is almost a clich at this point. We need the busiest of busy at these events to assure that the information being shared is from the top down. We need the best of the best speaking and teaching, not just the ones with free schedules.

The next issue I have with the conference ecosystem is the fact that I never seem to make the most out of the time I have with others. Every conference seems to be a new flock of people and I notice the same 10-12 I always see and talk to the most. This means that most of our time is spent rehashing old conferences and our kids and so on. I never seem to meet new people, mainly due to the time constraints of running from room to room to find the next speaker and needing information on them to make the most out of my conference experience. There doesn't seem to be the same type of connecting that there used to be, even with all the new technology.

This is why I am writing this article, to explain the uses of technology and the ways they can make your time in a new city more efficient that ever imagined. We all know LinkedIn is a great place to network with other professionals and we all know how it works. There has never been a better tool for business and communication than LinkedIn, however there is a new kid on the block, I found out recently. Leebug.com is a new site that has been launched and it is simply making the conference ecosystem more efficient through its various platforms. They offer the ability to connect with those attending the conference you are going to easier and doing it with class, no invasive telemarketing or cheesy salespeople emails. When you sign up for a conference your event professional has collaborated with Leebug, you have the ability to preset your meetings and networking, ahead of time. Though for me, I think the ability to stay in touch without having to remember everyone's name or business card to find them is the most efficient feature. I met people before the event, set times with them and stayed in contact after the fact, with ease. Let me explain.

Leebug offers a wide variety of features and platforms. They work with the powers that be in the conference ecosystem to create a two way street of communication for not only the attendee, but the hosts of the events. This social media blend is so important to for conferences and conventions I cannot state it enough.

Leebug is a social networking platform for people attending conferences and professional events. It brings together event participants from across the conference ecosystem through online and mobile tools. Leebug empowers interactions and enhances the event experience.

Last week I did something I have never done before and it was life changing, I attended a Leebug VIRTUAL Conference. I had no idea what this was until the event director of my conference called me back after I left a message saying I could not attend the event in New York. She called and told me to register with Leebug, so I did, and I attend the event virtually! I didn't even have to leave my office and didn't miss a beat, I felt like I was there. I saw all the vendors I wanted to see and, since I registered ahead of time, I met all the people I wanted to meet. I simply had to log in, click view and I was off. I even saw the speakers I wanted to see and then went to pick up my son afterward. I would have been across the country in a hotel talking to him on the phone if it wasn't for Leebug and this new platform.

I also saw that they offered mobile solutions and more. I cannot wait for the next time I have to go to a conference for work. Thanks Leebug. My next article will be about the mobile feature, I am very excited to see what it can do!
