With so many places to go, people to see and things to do

, more people are trying to get back to reserving some time for family home evening activities. As we all get busier and busier, we are also realizing how valuable spending time with family is and how much it can strengthen those important family bonds between members. Most people recommend reserving a few hours each week, just one night, for sharing time together doing something meaningful. When was the last time your whole family sat together and played a board game or read a book together? There should be room for more time than just when there is a storm and the family is left with no power for television!

One of the best family home evening activities that you can do is to make a scrapbook or a family archive together. The family members can work on it a little bit every week, one night, and everyone will have a great time doing it together. Children will learn all about their parents, grandparents and great grandparents, and adults will enjoy reminiscing over good times from the past. Scouring through pictures, snap shots, newspaper clippings and other memories that have been saved is something that does everyone in the family some good. And the best part about it all is that when time passes, the family archive is going to be there for the children to pass down to their children, and so on through the generations in the future.

So what could be a better family home evening activity than building a family archive? If you are not sure how to get started, there is much information on the Internet that can give you great ideas and inform you on what you will need, what you do not need, what you should and should not use, and all kinds of tips, tricks and suggestions, too. You should always use acid free ink, acid free paper and acid free cut outs, stickers, appliques and anything else that you add to pages that have photos. These types of materials can be found in any craft store or scrapbooking supply store. Usually, the packaging is going to be marked as photo safe. This is very important because if you use materials that are not marked as being acid free, over time the acid is going to slowly dissolve and ruin your precious photos.

There are websites on the Internet that you can order supplies from too, many of which even offer different types of books and archives that will help you get the ball rolling with preserving all of your family memories as you get together once a week for these family home evening activities.
