Medical Malpractice And Injury -the Right Time For A Lawyer

I remember the horror in the voice of my friend as she called me after work at the hospital one day

. She said something had gone horribly wrong, and she wasn't supposed to say anything, but she needed someone to talk to. I have always had a listening ear, and my curiosity being piqued, I asked her what had happened.

"They gave someone the wrong blood, and it killed him."

I was astonished. I asked her what was going to be done, and she said that the hospital was probably going to cover it up to avoid a malpractice lawsuit. I told her that she should speak out, but she was too afraid of what might happen to her and her career if she blew the whistle. She begged me not to say anything for her sake, and to this day, I regret keeping that confidence.

I hope the family had a full inquest and autopsy performed, and more importantly, I hope they had the presence of mind to hire a good attorney and file a medical malpractice suit. I have no idea whatever else may have been ailing their loved-one, but because of the negligence of the hospital that day, their family member's life was cut short. I can't help but wonder how much money hospitals have been able to save in damages because the real causes of death have not been investigated by a lawyer.

Accidental injury is also the right time to seek out a qualified injury lawyer. Insurance companies are loathe to pay out, and having a lawyer handle your case has been known to speed the process up and lead to more generous settlements. It requires a lot more money and manpower for the insurance companies to go to trial, and while they may not be so easy for an injured party to deal with, they become very easy when a qualified lawyer is involved.

None of us ever plan on being in an accident, and at times when hospital visits become unavoidable, especially in Chicago, we place our lives and our trust into the hands of people that we hope are qualified, but if you are injured, or if there is a death in the family that seems even the slightest bit suspicious, don't hesitate to consult with a qualified personal injury or medical malpractice lawyer. Your life and the lives of your loved ones may depend on it.
