Instead, having a winter wedding can be a wonderful way to have a fun theme and save some money as well. Because so many people prefer to get married in the spring or the summer, the price for a wedding during those times is much higher than if you plan a wedding in December, January, or February.

One way to really make a winter wedding fun and unique is to choose a winter theme. There are several that you could go with. If you like the image of gently falling snowflakes, consider decorating with light blue, whites, and silver. If Christmas is your absolute favorite time of year, consider having your wedding around Christmas and using typical Christmas decorations. You could also do a Victorian style Christmas theme if you would prefer something very regal and elegant. The plus side to decorating for a winter wedding is that you can buy decorations and supplies not only from typical wedding stores, but anywhere that sells Christmas decorations.

Winter weddings are also a good place for decorating with darker colors. Dark blues, burgundy, and emerald all fit in nicely with a winter theme, and you can go for more luxurious fabric for the bridesmaids gowns, such as velvet. Even the brides dress can be different than the typical wedding. Brides may want to consider a heavier fabric for their own gown, such as velvet, a dress with long sleeves, or one that has white fur around the edges.

Another advantage to a winter wedding is that they can be a good excuse to save money on flowers. Instead of the typical pastel colored flowers, you can instead use lots of greenery such as pine needles and holly. You also may not want to use as many flowers as you would have at a spring or summer wedding. Instead of flower centerpieces, for example, you can be more creative with what you do. Candles fit the mood of a winter wonderland very nicely, or you can get really creative and make your own centerpieces with Christmas or winter themed supplies from your local craft store.

Whatever you choose for your winter wedding, the event is sure to be a great way to incorporate a fun theme, present a wedding that looks stunning and elegant, and save some money as well.
