Men's Suits and Going Away for the Weekend
Men's Suits and Going Away for the Weekend
Whether it's a weekend in the country or a several days in a city, you'll want to look your best, especially if you are there with that special someone. Of course you should not be taking your entire wardrobe with you, but there key pieces of clothing that you can pack that mean that you will be ready just about any occasion or event that arises during your weekend away.
Mix and Match
You need to take clothes with you that can easily be mixed and matched together. This way you have many potential outfits, but you use a lot less suitcase space. In order to maximise the suitability of your chosen clothes, you need to choose items in colours that compliment each other rather than contrasting outright.
Take a Suit
Don't take men's suits that you would wear to the office, but do take one that's smart so that if you decide to go to a more exclusive restaurant, you won't look out of place. In terms of the fabric, a charcoal suit or a brown suit would work particularly well. Take a formal white shirt that requires cufflinks. And remember to pack a tie that goes with your suit choice in terms of being a different colour, but not overwhelming.
The Casual Aspects
Wearing a suit all weekend is obviously not what you should be aiming to do. Instead you need take along a couple of casual items that will go with at least the suit jacket. Take a plain, round neck, t-shirt (white or black), a round or v-neck jumper and a pair of dark, straight-legged jeans or a pair of brown corduroys that are not overly baggy.
No Casual Shoes
You want to make sure that you only need one pair of shoes or boots for the entire weekend. This means deciding which pair of leather shoes, black or brown, that look good with the trousers of the suit and the jeans. Styles that tend to go well with both suits and jeans are ones that aren't too fussy and detailed, such as laced up shoes such as Richmonds. Without laces also work, so Loafers or boots such as Chelseas or Torinos.
Potential Outfits
Short of wearing the suit with the shirt, cufflinks and tie for when you go out for a meal, there are three outfits that you can get out of this collection of clothes. The first is obviously the full suit, the other two work by either including the suit jacket with the casual items or just having the casual items altogether.
Final Tips
Ensure that any socks you take with you match the colour of your suit trousers or are black, and not sport socks, your underwear does need to match. Take a belt in a leather that matches the shade of your shoes. Remember to pack a pair of cufflinks. And don't forget a clothes brush alongside your toiletries.
