Also, earlier the shoes had no tongue, but today they come with criss-cross lacing and a tongue for better grip.

Men's brogues are nothing less than a dress shoe today and are available in variants of full, half or quarter. These fractions signify the amount of perforation on the shoe. Men who have invested in this shoe have never looked back, as no other form of footwear offers style and comfort, not to mention, durability, like the brogues.
