Metacam is a non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory medication. This medication is used for preventing the pain and the inflammation caused in the dog. Metacam is applied to the dog that has osteoarthritis symptoms. This medication works very effectively in decreasing the pain and the inflammation that occur due to acute and chronic musculoskeletal problem. This medication can also be used for other condition such as fever.

How should I give this medication to my dog?

This medication should be given exactly as it is prescribed by the doctor. Do not expose Metacam dog medication in heat, light and moisture always keep in dry and cool place. The oral suspension should be shaken well before use and then it should be measured properly using a proper measuring spoon and then administered to a pet.

What are the possible side effects of using this drug?

Metacam can cause side effects such as gastrointestinal problem, bleeding, tinnitus, blinding head-aches and formation of rashes. Metacam for dog medication may also cause dark or black stools and occurrence bleeding at the intestine. This medication has less-side effects as compared to other medication such as diclofenace, piroxicam and naproxen.This medication may also cause allergic reactions like hives, breathlessness, swelling on face, lips, tongue, and throat. It may make the mouth go dry, induce drowsiness and light headedness. The dog may feel weak, irritable and experience muscle pain. As it makes the skin more sensitive, the dog easily gets bruised, blisters and peeling of skin rash.

What precaution do I need to follow while using Metacam?

Do not apply Meloxicam medication if the dog is allergic perform special test to check its allergic reaction and consulting the doctor. This medciaiton should not be applied to the dog that is suffering from stomach ulcers and Von Willebrands diseases. Do not apply this medication if the dog is suffering from heart, liver or kidney problem. Metacam medication should not be used along with the combination of other drug such as etodolac or rimadyl medication. This medication should be given along with the food.
