Japan's Earthquake, Tsunami and Nuclear Reactor Disaster May Trigger More Interest in Migration to Ecuador
"As the nuclear crisis intensifies in Japan, thoughts have turned to the atomic power industries in other countries and to questions of safety. There are 439 nuclear reactors the world over, six of which can be found in Latin America". http://www.dw-world.de 16th March 2011".
The concentration of power generators in the northern hemisphere is logical, since about 90% of the world's population lives there.
Looking at what is happening around the world today you cannot help but feel for the many people who are losing family, friends, pets, entire homes and their lives as they once knew it. This last catastrophe in Japan has been devastating to watch. Many times I have seen the video clip of the "black sea" creeping in silently over the land and then have watched as it picks up cars and boats and houses and just sweeps them away.
I pinch myself and realize this is not an epic movie. This is happening far too often and it appears that each event becomes worse than the previous tragic event.
It gives me goose-bumps to think that in amongst all of that there are people just like you and me. I also hope that many did not have time to suffer as watching those videos you cannot imagine how a person could have survived it.
We have encountered a few earth quakes/tremors in our lives. The largest recorded about 7 on the Richter scale and although there was no serious damage where we lived, it scared the living daylights out of me.
Remember, the Richter scale is logarithmic a score of 9 is 100 times worse than a score of 7. No wonder the huge earthquake in Japan caused such a devastating Tsunami.
It is frightening to see what has been happening to the world over the last few years. Now we have possible nuclear crisis. By far the vast majority of the world's nuclear reactors are located in the Northern Hemisphere. Of the 439 reactors, close to 430 are north of the equator.

And by the way, most of the major wars are also in the northern hemisphere. So what? Well the large majority of the munitions use depleted uranium (DU) for the warheads. DU is the waste product from the production of nuclear power. However, it is not used in war without serious radiation consequences. Only days after the Iraq war commenced, the levels of radiation in London skyrocketed. Just do a search on the subject and you might be surprised.
The other major source of atmospheric pollution is from coal-fired power stations. They pollute mercury to the atmosphere. Most of these power stations are also in the northern hemisphere, especially China.
I am quite sure that Ecuador does not have any nuclear power plants and there are no major wars happening nearby. The country is rich in hydro electric sources of power, and construction of more capacity is already under way. They export some of this power to Peru and Colombia. Ecuador is also rich in oil.
So what is the significance of the nuclear disaster in Japan with respect to Ecuador and other nations south of the equator?
These are our thoughts?
It is our understanding that because of the rotation of the earth and the prevailing air and water currents that the pollution in the northern hemisphere, will mostly stay in the northern hemisphere. There is already talk that the radiation fall-out from Japan could soon hit the west coast of the US and Canada. Supplies of iodine, which is recommended as an antidote to radiation poisoning, have virtually sold out in California, and that what is left, is selling for extremely inflated prices.
There have been reports of e-bay stores also selling out of gas masks and iodine tablets.
So doesn't getting on a jet and heading for a place like Ecuador sound like a logical strategy even if only for 3-6 months for a vacation until you know what the end-result in the north is going to be?
Other counter radiation strategies could be to start consuming iodine containing foods (seaweed, chlorella, etc) and other supplements that are known to be good detoxifiers. One of the products used after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster was zeolite. This is still one of the recommendations by Dr Gabriel Cousins, one of the recognized gurus in the natural health arena.
It seems that we have now come full circle. One of the reasons we even left Australia was because our government stopped us from selling zeolite, simply because we referred to a third-party web site that mentioned it as a possible adjunct as a cancer cure. We had also used it ourselves to help alkalizie and detoxify while we were having our mercury amalgams removed.
John then published a book on zeolite, summarizing a substantial volume of research on zeolite's characteristics and uses. Perhaps it is worth another look. Maybe some of my readers might like to have a read of John's book.
Another interesting point of interest is that Ecuador has a zeolite mine just west of Guayaquil. I wonder if it has good enough qualities to be used to treat radiation contamination.
Chao for now
